Youtube Links On Answerbank

A few of the links from Youtube that I have posted lately have not embedded (I think thats the word) on AB.

I tried posting a video on this thread https://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/News/Question1789533.html and it didn't work.

In order for a YouTube link to embed here on AB it must:
(a) have a space, or a carriage return, at either end of it, so that AB's server can pick it up among all the other text on a page ;
(b) include the 'https' bit at the start ;
(c) be in the form 'youtube.com', and not in the 'youtu.be' format used by mobile devices ; and
(d) include 'watch?v=', followed by the video's unique number, in the link.

Links that have 'shorts', instead of 'watch' in them, won't work.

This originally came from 'Mentour Shorts'. It has happened a few times lately, it has worked okay for years.

We should be able to review our posts before they are actually posted.

Tilly, you have just ensured that it will never happen :-)

I sometimes want to use italics but it looks stupid if you type them in in the wrong way/sequence. So I don't even attempt to use them. :-(

The rules for italics are fairly straightforward:
1. Type [i] immediately before and after whatever you want to appear in italics ;
2. Never try to use italics twice in the same post ; and
3. Be wary of including any punctuation in between the two italic indicators, as it sometimes causes things to go wrong.

When I’m quoting someone using italics I sometimes have to edit the punctuation so it’ll work without losing the posters meaning.
