No reviews as such on my Nextdoor site but there are recommendations for tradespeople, business, eateries etc. Just as many warnings about them, too.
I find the site very useful for local information - the police, council, local MPs, councillors, fire service participate. A lot of buying/selling/freebies, moaning, gossip too.
I would be very cheeky and ask some of those reviewers if I could come and see the work, especially if I wanted a big job doing.
Contact trading standards at your local council to see if they've had any complaints.

As you are a member of the site already , could i be really cheeky and ask you if you could please look on the site for me , to see if the comments regarding the company in question are genuinely really on the site itself .
Yes, they are on the site but it doesn't mean they aren't flaky - I don't know. Several of the reviews are from three people.
I would prefer to get recommendations from people I know but I realise that isn't always possible.
No harm asking that company for a quote.
No, it's a neighbourhood network, you can however ask for reviewes if you are thinking of using a local trader, or if you do a search you may find comments from other local members.
The problem with a lot of these traders now, and there's loads of them on face book and the likes, is that they tend to just provide a mobile number. No business address, and in many cases no VAT number. There are many adds for cleaning out gutters and roofing repairs, and their add normally just show pictures of nearly new houses, but no work in progress. Look for a vat number, and business address, land line if possible.
I don't like the look of this site at all. Going through their Terms and Conditions I came across "We transfer your information outside of the EU to the United States, such as to Nextdoor, Inc., in order to provide our Services."
The US are notoriously slack about data protection, so not my cup of tea.
