Parcel Delivery Etiquette
31 Answers
Hi. I keep taking in parcels for my neighbour - more so me than they do for me. Royal Mail/courier tells me they'll put a note in their door to let them know their parcels are with me. However, they (neighbours)never knock on my door to collect them from me and I usually have to take them to them, even if it's the next day, as I usually wait for them to come to me. Who, really, should knock first when it comes to matters as these?

We don’t do parcels to neighbours here. We all seem to have a safe place and our etiquette is not to do it. But should we receive one for any reason I would wait for someone to call round for it. I’m not running about looking to see if they are home yet.

That's also my understanding RH of Treacle's living and working pattern so not sure when you are in to take parcels Treacle but I don't think we can give some blanket answer to this situation. It depends on circumstances.
Before covid and working from home my neighbours were always taking in parcels for us. A card wasn't always left so sometimes they would bring them round when we got back from work.
Maybe these neighbours are elderly or have mobility problems, in that case I'd expect ABers to be happy to take their parcels round.

Depends on the size of the parcel. I did get irritated when a box the size of a washing machine arrived when they were on holiday, nowhere to put it where it wasn't in the way. Small stuff if I hear them come home, (no way of seeing in flats) I give it half an hour then take it round. No one takes mine in, two of the three neighbours are unable to get to the door and the other one is at work all day.
