I am seriously fuming my housing association are hopeless there is a faulty alarm system it went off on Thursday night all the carbon monoxide and fire alarms were going off. 2 fire engines arrived and the Scottish Gas Network. My meter was capped and the next day my housing association had to come out and uncap it. Well today was the worst yet the alarms went off at 6am I phoned gas emergency line because I thought it was my carbon monoxide alarm. Scottish Gas Network came out and told me that all 3 flats belonging to Housing Associations fire alarms were going off but as my carbon monoxide alarm was going off they had to cap my meter. I asked them not to but they said they could not check the boiler. I could not believe it when I phoned my Housing Association they said their policy is not to come out at weekends and uncap a meter. What kind of policy is that ? Leaving somebody all weekend without hot water? Barbaric anything I can do apart from scream abuse at them which I did and it got me nowhere

Boil the kettle?
stop paying the burton for 3 months then start again, they'll never be able to chuck you out and you'll be 3 months wonga up.
I think you need to look up the dictionary definition of "barbaric". :-)

I wish I had never phoned to report it to Gas Emergency Line. And as for these faulty alarms they have been going off since 6am my cat is stressed out and I've got a headache. No doubt the contract was awarded to the cheapest bidder like the concrete for the schools
No water is an emergency, no hot water isnt, it's an inconvenience. Get the biggest jug that fits in your microwave and use that, plus kettles
I think it just shows how we take such things for granted, like my friends kids screaming it's a third world problem if the internet goes down....
your fault if it be one is..... ringing them.

You are Mr X and you say - "oi smell garss" - or " el gasso alarmo is going like da clappers"
they will come around and cap your meter

rule apparently

and then they go home and have a cup of tea
and fill out a form saying how very wonderful their service has been

been there - had that done to me
" .......anything I can do apart from scream abuse at them which I did and it got me nowhere"

I am sure that would have speeded you right to the top of their priority list.

Boil a kettle, microwave a jug of water and/or heat a pan of water on the stove-top (supposing it is electric and not gas).

Next time you need to contact them try to keep a civil tongue in your head (the people answering the telephones are not the same people that have come to your house) and you might get further with your queries.
You're going to have to have a cold shower.
Perhaps it's your seriously fuming which is setting the alarms off.

Why don't you report a gas leak, then when the fitter comes out to cap your meter, explain that he has obviously been given the wrong message, you want it uncapped - objective achieved.
Due to an assortment of plumbing problems that I can't afford to get fixed, I've not had any hot water in my house (other than that boiled in a kettle) for over a decade now. I don't seem to have suffered greatly (or even at all) because of it though!
Chris can't you get any help to sort that out? Surely there must be some help available for someone in your position?
