hi, MIL does not have a the health and medical LPA - her legal advisor has quoted 564 plus VAT plus 82 costs .
Is this something we can do ourselves - I know his brother is in the legal profession but its not his area of knowledge.
She has kinda agreed to set one up - and I am spitballing if its easy to do or if we need legal advice.
If you follow the link on here: Make, register or end a lasting power of attorney: Overview - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) you should be able to do it. You absolutely do NOT need a lawyer to do it.
In all honesty though, an LPA for H&W is not generally necessary since the Mental Capacity Act 2005 provides a pretty good framework to decide on a course of action for someone who does not have capacity.
