depends on the router but modern ones use a tiny amount.

Do you mean the router?  No, they are very cheap to run, turning it off won't save you many pennies

My smart meter tells me no. When I go to bed the fridge, freezer, Wi-Fi router, a lamp and  a digital clock are the only things left on, and it registers as costing 2p an hour for all of that.

Disconnecting your router is never a good idea (unless, of course, you need to do so to solves a problem).  Every time that you reconnect, the system has to balance the capabilities of your home wi-fi system with that of your internet provder's service.  That can take several days (or even up to a fortnight), so it's unlikely that you'll ever get the best download speeds from your router if you turn it off every night.

Maydup - the fridge and freezer only consume energy when the compressor is running and most of the time it's not. The 2p/hour, therefore, is down to your router and the lamp, the clock taking very minimal power. You need to look at the wattage of the lamp to get a good approximation of the power the router is taking.
