PRADA - Made in Japan?

I recently rc'vd a pair of black trainers marked with Prada. They look authentic but the sole says 25 1/1 EEE Made in Japan. Does Prada have a factory in Japan? Tnx

I could be way off the mark here but I thought Prada were designers - they make the prototypes and then farm out production wherever in the world it is cheapest at the quality they want.

OTH maybe there's a town in Japan called Prada......
