What's Happened To Poppies?

I can't get one with the plastic stalk to attach with a pin, they all seem to have a sticky pad that's useless. I had to heath robinson my own solution. It wasn't broke, why did they "fix" it?

When I went to the poppy factory a few years ago they said they were trying to reduce the plastic and make poppies with paper stems.  Maybe they haven't developed something that is robust yet.

I always lose the poppy within about 5 mins of putting it on, so now I either buy a wrist band or a small badge
