Has anybody else noticed in the super markets that the word "Easter" is no longer printed on the packaging of "Easter" eggs. Me being a Christian I'm just wondering why.

To maximise the customer base

You can still buy Easter eggs with Easter on the packaging, or the cross on the shell but probably not in the supermarket

I'm not sure I remember the word "Easter" being printed on the packaging at all...it's rather stating the obvious!

I don't remember it either.  The manufacturers have always been keen to plaster the packaging with their brand, logo and the contents.

I do remember them being sold sat on a pretty beaker or with those small Whimsy animals.

Bunnies and fluffy chicks on the packaging widen the customer base.

I've just been looking at photos of Easter eggs from the 60s and 70s - no mention of Easter

The Weekend egg looks nice. Remember the boxes of Weekend?

This happens every year, usually done on some form of social media. People getting unnecessarily hot and bothered about the word egg and not having easter printed on the box in front of it. Like Barri I can't remember boxes of yesterday having it printed on, mainly because I was more interested in the chocolate.  If it will calm your hot and botheredness just do a search on Tesco for 'Easter eggs'. Plenty come up. Or if it is so important to you don't buy any.

I'd have thought that "being a Christian", you'd have baulked at the idea that your religious festival was being hijacked to sell huge amounts of chocolate to children.

I'm a Christian and Easter was celebrated with eggs long before chocolate was invented.

It really doesn't bother me who buys and eats them.

Sadly I can't eat chocolate these days but we will be decorating hens' eggs and eating them for breakfast

Maybe they should go back to the pagan origins... Eostre before Easter

I've got 3 here (they were a gift).

One has Happy Easter on the box.

What make is that, Tuvok? Is it a 'Real Easter Egg' from Eden?

Found theses pictures from the 70s, no mention of Easter.

If you click through the pages here, you'll struggle to find the word 'Easter' on much of the packaging that's depicted:
