Video recording

I have just purchased another video after what I thought was a fault in the old one in that when I recorded a programme or played back something I got a picture, but no sound.

Now I have set up a new vhs recorder the same thing has happened. It can't be the t.v. as all channels have sound. Does anyone know why I only have vision on a tape and not sound? thanks

Make sure all the SCART leads are firmly plugged in.

Have you tried to make a fresh recording on the new machine? It could have been a fault with the video heads on the old recorder causing the sound not to be recorded.

Sounds like a dud connecting lead. Are you using scart or other AV connectors. Try using another input on the TV isf there is one.

This sounds like the TV and the VCR are not set to the same system, you will have to check around the settings and you should find PAL, SECAM, etc... I think that in fact the problem is that the TV channel you use for the VCR is set to the wrong system. probably its set to SECAM and not PAL.
How much do you want for the old VCR as scrap value ?

Not to clever on this but my dvd had a problem so I went and bought another .The new one wouldnt work properly so bought a new scart lead now I have 2 dvds working perfectly.
