Civil Marriage Ceremonies

My fiance has recently proposed to me and we've got our heart set on getting married out in the open on a hill, is it possible under the new marriage laws to have a civil ceremony anywhere with a registrar, or does it need to be in a licenced place?

If you mean the same-sex civil partnership thingies I think they can only be held in certain places. The local council sent my friend a list of places to choose from. I think it's the same with 'normal' (for want of a better word) marriages. Your local council will have a list of registered premises that you can use.

I think this year the laws are changing, it will be the registrar not the premises that will be licensed. Therefore you could technically marry anywhere.

come up to beautiful Scotland - you can get married anywhere you like up here, as long as you can find a willing registrar. My friends married in the field where they first met!

No its a male/female marriage ceremony. Good news that the laws are changing though to licence the registrar not the place, that makes things a whole lot easier. Hopefully they'll be sorted by July!!
