with teenagers in the house, I seem to constantly be answering the phone to their friends, so we have decided to get a quad pack of digi cordless phones, however there seem to be so many and not all of the specifications are given. I would like the facility to have different ringtones for each member of the family plus the facility to use the phones as an intercom (to save me shouting above loud music to tell them when their meals are ready!) and just to complicate matters further my husband wears a hearing aid so the phones need to be suitable for him to use too and we need it to have an answerphone as well. Has anybody had any experience with these phones and can recommend one or point me in the right direction for checking out specifications.

We had the same problem,so we bought the BT 2500 freestyle quad system, excellent system.bought it off ebay for 44.99.well worth it.
We have recently bought a Phillips set with one main answerphone base and two separate extentions. However, the ringing tone is terribly tinny, even on "Very Loud", and it's difficult to hear in rooms without an extension. The hand sets are lightweight and cheap and nasty, and although I have to admit the convenience of being able to carry them around, the small numbers make dialling difficult if it's a number you haven't pre-prgrammed in. I'm not sure whether our system offers different ring tones for different family members although there is a loudspeaker and intercom facility.
Catch a Lidl or Aldi offer next time around - probably the cheapest and every bit as good as the more expensive branded ones. We have friends who have a BT set which doesn't work reliably within their house but our Lidl one works a couple of houses away.

thanks everyone, I am fairly convinced that I am going to go for the BT 2500 freestyle although apparently this has now been discontinued so depends if I can get one, hopefully I will be able to pick one up cheap if it has been superceded.
