I assume that you'd get the same channels that someone joining Sky under the 'free satellite' scheme gets. There's a full list here:

You still need a card to get the channels under the "Freesat" scheme. Current cost, I think, is �20 one-off payment.
That's correct. The box won't work without the card.
the �20 gives you freesat for 3 years
some channels will still work - there's a difference between free to view and free to air.
