Our garages are in 2 rows facing one another and whenpeople leave cars outside there garage it is a little bit of a problem to get into your garage but the problem is not there. This guy buys and sells cars and when he leaves one in front of his garage it is a foot away from his door so that he can get in his garage therefor making it very difficult for me as i am across from him and also for neighbour.Ihave to reverse in and up the side of him to get to my garage.and this car of his is not taxed.Rang police they dont want to know. And please dont tell me to ask him as he is not a very nice man and he has also been in prison for assault. If there was a car parked at the next garage to him I wouldnt have a chance of getting in my garage. So should I put a note on his windscreen or what else can I do as no way do I want to leave my car outside.

I do hope you are joking with your reply if you saw the sort of cars he trades in you wouldnt let him near yours.Any way my son is my mechanic .He is not the sort of man to deal with as he has a very bad charactor I dont need to get to know him I know.

phil, I hope that wasn't a serious answer.

I tell you what Phil, you might as well forget trying to explain anything to some people, if you've been to prison and deal in cars you might as well be the Yorkshire Ripper to them "leopards never change their spots" etc etc etc. They'll assume you'll cut their throat and hide their body in your freezer if they offer you a cup of tea! Let them get on with their form filling and their "disgusted of Brighton" telephone calls to all and sundry, instead of behaving politely and asking nicely first.I think they may be frightened if they do actually ask politely the person will stop doing whatever it is offends them and they'll have nothing to moan about.

For the record Wendilla I think you should have the courtesy to ask the man nicely then if he doesn't play ball do whatever you like, but it's only common manners isn't it?

I didnt put this post up to have arguments over it.For someone that has ran cars for years and probably no insurance he is not going to heed me .His car is left a foot and more from his garage door so that he can get in his garage. What happens if that car rolls back on to mine is he going to pay up ,I hope he gets all that is coming to him and I think GRUNTY hit the nail on the head.I am not coming back with any replies as I didnt put this up for what it has ended up as .I hoped other people could get advice also from the replies people are good enough to put in to help.

Wendilla sorry but I didn't mean to start an argument it was only ment as a constructive, positve way forward out of your current situation as opposed to all the negative comment posted previously. Maybe I'm just to 'christian' in my outlook and belive in giving people a second chance (funny cos I don't belive in god). If this guy has had a troubled past and been in prison he is likely to be un-educated and find it very dificult to get a 'proper' job, fixing cars maybe the only skill he has and is doing his best to make ends meet.

Gef Sorry I can't seem to find your post where you try and help Wendilla, maybe I missed it.

Nox Thanks for the support

Forgot to say Wendilla, good luck, however you choose to resolve the situation.
Wendilla, I hope too that you get this sorted out as it's clearly inconveniencing you and upsetting you a great deal, but I Phil is right unless you treat this person with a modicom of repect you really can't expect him to be aware he's upsetting you.If he's not aware, then you're not giving him the opportunity to rectify it and therefore exaccerbating the situation yourself. What you appear to want from your posts is actually sympathy and ideas as to how to make this man's life as difficult as possible when perhaps all you needed was to have a conversation with him in order for your own to be better.
Rumour has it if the petrol cap was not present this would be a danger to public safety and the environment - dealt with as a matter of urgency! Try a discreet enquiry to establish if this is so.

His car has gone or yours?
Question Author

No his car and hopefully he wont park his untaxed cars there again. My real issue was that his car was untaxed and making it difficult for me and a few others to get in there garages thanks for your replies it just goes to show that by approaching him first didnt work as I got a mouthful off him then he moved it as he knew he was in the wrong.

Glad to hear it all worked out for you :-)

Wendilla,

If this guy is buying and selling cars he is obviously operating a business from home, which possibly is not permitted. Check with your local Trading Standards office to see if he is registered and whether this kind of business may be operated from a private house. Also, is his property a Council property or privately owned? If it's Council, they may have rules about trading from home which are being breached.
