i suffer from what has been diagnosed as 'globus' which is the feeling of a lump in the throat.
My doctor says it is just in my head but im certain that its not because my upper back hurts and if i touch my uper back i get twinges in my throat.
What could this be?

Pain in your upper back and neck can also be stress related.
Have you tried to take steps to deal with the stress in your life?
yes i have tried lots of things and i am not at all stressed.
i have just started a course of anti depressants even though i swaer blind that i am not depressed.
i am going ahead with the tablets though as i am willing to try anything to help make me feel better.
i feel absolutley perfect until i have got a bad back, as soon as i get a bad back i become ill and have all manor of problems.
it seems to happen more and more recently and i find that i rarely have any good days with my back anymore.
I have globus. It's not just in your head and it's aggravated by caffiene. Try drinking less tea and coffee and coca cola when you are at work. I have it now as my boss had just come back to the office after being away on holiday!!!!!
It's all linked - I used to get pains in my upper back, shoulders and arms due to stress, which got worse with the death of my mother. I get palpatations after I get globus, IF I continue to drink too much caffiene.
