Is it cheeky to ask for money instead of gifts at my wedding?
5 Answers
I am getting married in June and currently rent a property with my fiance and so we have all the house items that we need, however we would love to start saving to buy our own house and so money as gifts at our wedding would be very much appreciated but is it cheeky to ask??

Most people would be happy to think they'd helped. Maybe set up an account and ask people to pay in directly rather than giving you cash which some people may find a bit vulgar. My friends did this for their wedding and the money paid for them to have a fantastic honeymoon in Canada. IMO It's just the same as sending a wedding list.
I think it's sensible in this day and age.
Would it be possible to have a trusted third party (perhaps a parent or the best man) as a gift collector, so that a record could be made of the givers, but not the actual amount?
That person could handle cash and cheques and pay them into a seperate savings account on your behalf.
It would prevent any potential embarrassment or feelings of pressure from the givers.

I am getting married in April and have been with my partner for years and have our own home etc. To be honest i think people will know that we have everything and i am just going to let them give us what they want. I think people are sensible enought to know that we dont need a kettle etc and will stick cash in an envelope !
