Can I block off the hoses from the radiator to the heater core?

If you live in a tropical climate I suppose you can, otherwise you'll freeze this winter. Sometimes this is done as a temporary running repair if the heater matrix leaks. You can join together the pipe that enters the heater box and the one that exits from it., therefore bypassing the heater altogether. You need a short length of copper pipe that is the same diameter as the stubs to which the original pipes connect to,and join the rubber hoses to each end of this with jubilee clips.
