There must be an invention where you whistle or something to locate your specs.I only need mine for reading (struggle even then) and then I put them down and cant find them.I've even lost a lens but it was a clear one so it doesnt matter - the other one is for an astigmatism.I'm a female Jack Duckworth but I'm lost if I dont have them.

Anyone heard of an invention?

Lol....I am extremely short sighted .I keep a spare pair of specs in a drawer .I know exactly where they are. I am often to be seen in the mornings groping around... putting the spare pair on to locate the other pair which I have left either ,somewhere in the bathroom or bedroom.
Im afraid I havent heard of anything like that - the only one I have come across is a whistling keyring for your keys - you could try and get one of those and attach it to your glasses when you put them down. ~I agree it is frustrating - both my parents do it all the time, as they only need them for reading. The alternative is to have them on a chain around your neck.

if you attach a glasses case to a dogs collar then whistle, now i'm just getting silly!

sorry

try a really bright coloured specs cord then they'll show up a bit better.

ooops sorry Drisgirl, dont know how that happened.was going to say. no dont think there is,technology hasn't advanced that far yet.i have two pairs just incase of that situation, the lost pair usually turn up before i manage to lose the second pair lol..soz for the first message (slap)
I started with reading glasses, then the time came when distance glasses would be slightly useful, but not esential. I decided to opt for varifocals because I stood a better chance of finding them if they were on my nose.

I'm pretty sure I've heard of something along those lines but I can't think where now. An electronics expert should be able to put one together based on a bugging device.

Trouble is it would probably be so expensive that it would be cheaper to have a spare pair of specs in every room.....

Anybody remeber those key finders they had in the late 80's? They were a small black box which beeped when you whistled so that you could located your keys.
Question Author

Thanks for making me feel better everyone.Thought I had missed a great invention,If you can get a thing you whistle on for your keys there must, you would think be something more discreet you could attach ti the leg of your specs.Only problem is - I cant whistle:)

I can feel an invention and patent coming on here:)

mr pointment - I apologise for being sharp - I thought you were one those people who go about just being rude on any post.

Think a 1 pair of specs are in order to put in my massive fruit bowl in the kitchen which had no fruit in it and is full of lottery tickets (just in case) and things I cant home immediately!!!

lol, I've got a fruitbowl like that!
Ha ha - could you imagine the shock you would get if someone whistled while you were wearing these glasses?

For every room where you take your glasses off have one specific place to put them.

It's a bit of faddle, but it saves me a lot of frustration.

If you need to take them on and off frequently think about a spectacle cord, so you can dangle them around your neck.

Not a cool look, I know.
very funny Ethel. My nan is always losing hers and can take ages looking for them if nobody is there but they are usually on the top of her head
Question Author

LOL @ Ethel.

ronnie - I have also searched high and low for mine and they have been on my head:)I've also wakened up in the morning in bed with them entangled in my hair - grrrr!!! O and I have also to my great surprise found them,as a last resort, in my spec case:)

A length of string between the arms. This goes over your head. When you take the glasses off you wear them like a necklace until you need them again. Simple really!

Technically, it's feasible, but economically...?

Have you tried a spectacle cord?

String is cheap!
Question Author

Thanks for that alfie - I have tried a cord but the specs then get in the way. There is just no pleasing me!

Is there anyone else, like me astounded that there hasnt been a device to locate specs, and without googling I suspect approx 70% at least will wear them at some point in their lives.

Mind you - thinking of Ethels remark - just imagine you were out shopping and the bin man whistled to his driver to move on and your specs started giving out a high pierced screech along with a throbbing red lasor light on the leg of the specs.

I think I'm gonna have to stick with the 1 spare pair in my non fruit bowl:)
