You can get Radio 5 on digital with a Freeview box or on Sky.
In fact my 2 favorite channels are Radio 5 and Talk Sport, both on MW.
Not an answer to your question and apologies if you know this already but you can listen to, virtually, any radio station on your computer. Just check out http://radiofeeds.co.uk
Many thanks for your answers.. the reason Im asking is that being a shift worker that's allowed to listen to the radio whilst working.. I can only get FM stations on the radio. The machines at my work-place cause a lot of interference on MW stations. Radio 5 live broadcasts a lot of live sport e.g. Premiership games and with the world cup coming up the only way i can catch the games is thru the radio coverage. If allocation being the issue It would make sense to put Radio 4 on MW and replace it with 5 live (im guessing more people listen to 5 live)
One of the many reasons for the introduction of DAB radio is to try to overcome the problems of there being too small a segment of the radio spectrum available for all of the broadcasters who would like to use it. If you're in a DAB reception area at work you should be able to get 5 Live (and 5 Live Sports Extra), with an interference free signal, simply by investing in a DAB set.
If 5 Live was allowed to replace Radio 4 on VHF frequencies, there'd probably be a revolution! (Fans of The Archers aren't noted for readily embracing any sort of changes!). Anyway, Radio 4 has far more listeners (approx 9.5 million) than 5 Live (approx 6.1 million).
