I would like to buy a friend a venus fly-trap as a moving-in present, but have no idea where to buy one. Does anyone know where I could get one in either Glasgow or Edinburgh? I tried B&Q, but the only ones they had were wee tiny ones (bog plants, so the tag said). I want a proper big "Feed me Seymore" style one. Thanks!

I would have thought the most likely place to buy one would be in the Indoor Plant section of a garden centre. If you look under the Garden Centre section of Yellow Pages you'll probably be able to phone up your nearest one and check whether they've got what you want in stock.

Doubt you'll get a big plant from the diy stores as they only sell what the central distribution send them, so not even worth asking for a one off.

Call Dobbies at Gilmerton (or similar garden centre place) and ask if they can get you a larger plant than usual as a special order. Pentland Plants at Loanhead are also pretty good - check yellow pages for numbers.

friend of mine asked the local florist to get one for him (obviously agreed a price etc first) and she managed to pick it up from whereever it is that florists get all their flowers from - i imagine some massive market somewhere... though it took about a week
I saw them in Homebase last week !!!
OH sorry it was fairly small .. I think I would be scared of a big one !!
