nissan micra

any 1 had problems with their nissan micra, when hot and slows down it wont drive , it judders then picks up for a few yards then dies, swith off then it will drive for a few more yards, garage says air flow meter, �541.00 ex nisan, plus vat and fitting and set up, others say fuel problems , any 1 offer any advice please.

yes it is the air flow meter -it is a common problem on micras and nissan dealer price is correct (it used to be �1800), however a secondhand unit from a scrapyard will work perfectly well (my brother is a mechanic and has fitted loads of them )and will be a lot lot cheaper

I have the same problem with my 93 Micra 1.3SLX, no more power after 3000revs, poor idle,... mechanic says also its the not cheap Air Flow Meter... TALI122, do you think your brother could find a good second hand one for my micra model ?? for how much? tx

thanks tali- had a recon fitted, got one from motor factors 195.00 exch. used car 1 week seems ok , just needs a fine tune now, will get fuel tamk cleaned out and change filter.

rydal there is no need to change fuel filter and, cleaning fuel tank is according to my brother risky and could cause damage to the fuel pump which are notoriously fragile on micras

lemanu - a secondhand fuel filter could get one for @�150 or less
