Apple MacBook Pro and dial-up internet

I am in the process of buying a MBP laptop from Apple (- this doesn't come with an internal modem). At the moment I have a PC which is connected to the internet via dial-up. Is there a way that I can connect the MacBook Pro to my PC via cables (or any other method) to take advantage of my dial-up?

I've heard of 'ethernet' would that be any use?

I really don't want to have to buy a separate modem and disconnect the phone-line from my PC and re-connect to the MacBook each time I want to use it to go online. Also I think I'll have to go through the whole NTL registration process again with my laptop - I really don't wanna have to do this!

I can't why a router wouldn't work.

We have PCs and one apple at work and they all plug into the same network points with the same ethernet cables with no problems reaching the internet. Having said that I have just realised that I don't know what is in our apple re modems etc.

I've just told someone else to have a look at the apple forums. Type apple forums into Google etc and the page comes up. MIght be something there if you don't get an answer here.

To use dial-up you need a modem. Apple do a separate USB modem for the MBP and Intel iMac.
The only other solution is to go to broadband and get a modem/router - maybe even wireless. That way you can have both computers on the interweb at the same time. Plus the speed difference is well worth it.

There's no point in having two computers connected to the internet at the same time on dial-up anyway, it'd be pointless. Plus ideally you'd really need broadband to take advantage of a lot of the Mac's features. Updating the OS for example; not much fun doing that on dial-up.

Also check how compatible your dial-up is with a mac. You can always connect a mac to broadband with an ethernet cable, but sometimes dial-up can be more difficult.
