Why is it that your body shrinks when you get older, but your ears keep on growing?

Just a theory - maybe nature assumes that your hearing will fade in later years and therefor compensates by growing the sound dishes (your ears) larger.

Perhaps its got something to do with the fact that your body shrinks making your ears look larger? just a thought
