MInidisc/Firewire?

Does anyone know if it's possible to transfer data from a computer to a Minidisc player using a firewire? do such things exist? is it possible?

I don't think it is possible. However if your Minidisc player/recorder has a Optical Input then you might be able to use a Optical-to-Firewire adapter (but no idea where you would get one or if one exists! Maybe a Optical-to-USB as well). Otherwise just record from your PC using the audio/speaker jacks should work (depending on your sound card).

I agree with Metaphysical, I don't think the standard MiniDisc players have a firewire port. The Apple iPod does, however, which is an mp3 player and also works with Windows.

Minidisc uses a (atrac) technology that is designed to play music and it squashes out extraneous noises such as data creates. Not a useful medium. Whereas a cdrw is.

If you have a 'net' version of the Sony, they come with a USB cable and software to allow you to download to the player and upload - depending on the copyright of the files. I have one and it works well. MP3s off the internet can be transferred easily.
