Hope someone can help
The other evening whilst driving at circa 15 mph, i tried to change gear from 3rd to 2nd, whereupon there was a snap and the clutch pedal lost all resistance and just pushed easily and uselessly back and forth, leaving me unable to change gear
the AA reckoned all was fine with the clutch system and, having found some bits of plastic and a spring on the floor, reckoned that the pedal had come detached from the clutch system. He then simply used a clip to hold the pedal in place and off I went again
Upon taking the car to the garage, I have been told that the clutch master cylinder needs replacing at a cost of circa 300. Does this sound right? (car is 3 yrs old and has done 30000 miles; no previous clutch problems and none experienced once pedal re-attached )
Any and all help appreciated
