i have always wondered how a calculator works i mean how can it work out those sums so fast?

basically a calculator contains a specially programed microcomputer. it is obviously not a powerfull thing but only needing to process numbers and not do complicated graphics etc. they are quite capagle devices. in any case they can still be working at a speed of 20 MHz so do rather rival some of what were the great processors of the past but they are not as efficient but still fast for the simple tasks put to them
