Does our ability to taste change over time, for example with increasing age? Also is there any evidence that people are becoming more sensitive as the range of foods eaten increases with each generation?

yes, I think there are changes at puberty, when we lose some sweet taste buds and gain more sour ones - which is why kids like sweet things more than adults (well, a bit)
i can't speak for anyone else, but i find i like things now like dark chocolate and olives that i hated upto a few years ago (i'm 33 now), i'm not sure why though my range of foods has always been broad from day oneand some of the things that i loved as a child (and still do) make people squirm chinese dried prunes with salt and licorice being a prime example!
chinese. dried. prunes. with salt. and licorice..? really?

It must do as liked sweetsand now i like beer
yes they do change with age, they can also change after anethetic or having teeth removed etc, i think it is something to do with the chemical balance from the brain, with regards to the senses....smells, sight and all of that.
