Rip & burn CDs

I have ripped and burned a CD, but when I put in in the
CD player ( Sony Discman D 133), it comes up No Disc. Why won't the stupid thing see that there is a disc in it? eh?

Have you finalised it ?

As far as I know, the progam (Windows Media Player) finalised it. There was no option to do so that I had to choose as far as I know.

Windows usually finalizes it. has it been tried in someone elses player or even a dvd player.
windows format is usually recognized by most players,it does have mp3 option,you could possibly try that

Just a shot in the dark, but you haven't slipped up and converted the tracks to mp3 format by mistake have you? They won't play on a standard CD player (yeah, I know, obviously!). Maybe the program you used to rip the tracks was set to convert to mp3 and you didn't tell it to do otherwise.

On some Sony equipment I find that CD's I have burned will not play ... if you try it on another CD player you might find it works fine.

I agree with lady_p_gold, my Sony equipment will not recognise copied CD's but every other player in the house will play them.

It's a Sony thing!

I often find that if I burn CDRs at max speed my cars CD player and older CDROM drives have trouble reading them.
Perhaps try burning them at 4x.
Just a suggestion.

I have a Sony DVD player and that has little trouble playing CDRs and most brands of DVD-Rs. Wont touch rewritables though. That's a thought, you've not burnt to a CDRW have you?

Er, yes, I have burned it onto a rewritable. Damn, and I bought ten of them. Do RW discs never play on CD players? Or is is just Sony.
My CD player is quite old now , about 9 years I should think. Maybe that's also a problem.

just some CD players don't like CDRWs. Some don't like CDRs either. Older ones, and Sony apparently, are worse. In fact, cheaper ones seem to read more. Same with DVD players.

I have the same problem with rewritables (Panasonic player). If I am making a cd from an LP I tend to do them one side at a time onto RWs then copy them.

I have now burned onto a CD-R disc and it works perfectly.
