Hi all, I have just bought a Samsung A7 Digital Camera. I got it from Argos for 115.00 down from 330.00. It has 7m pixels and has great reviews. However, It Is the first digital camera I have ever had, and so I have a couple of questions. Firstly, I want to buy a 1GB memory card. However, someone told me that not all camera's can handle them. There is nothing in the instruction booklet about it. Do any of you have this camera, and can it handle 1GB? Or, does anyone know where I can find out? Secondly, the camera came with Duracell Ultra Batteries, but after just taking over a dozen photo's the batteries are nearly dead already. Should I buy rechargable batteries, or an AC adapter and charge it through the mains supply. Any suggestions on both these questions would be most appreciated. Thanks!

A 1gb card wouldn't be a problem - as it's selling off it may be an older model so at the time of printing the manual, 1Gb cards weren't as popular/cheap as they are now. I just bought a 1gb card from www.7dayshop.com for about 12!

As for the batteries, DEFINATELY get rechargables!! You can usually get a charge and 4 batteries for around 25 - try to get 1800 mAh and upwards for longer use...
Hiya magicbeatle
Firstly, digital cameras are very heavy on batteries. You could save some energy by turning off the screen, if possible. Try and get rechargeable ones which are made for the model. Look on their website to see if they exist as well as check to see which memory/flash card they use.
I have exactly the same camera from argos.Very easy to use. But yes the batteries that come with it are no good I use 2500mah with the uniross charger that comes with 4 batteries and charge in 2 to 3 hours. from argos.and I use my camera a lot and they hold charge for a long time .The card I use is 128mb fugifilm also from argos.
You'll want stuff like this and this.
MB, looks as if you got a bargain there! How about this:-
Samsung Digimax A7 - Three power sources
Bearing in mind that you can't shoot pictures if you don't have power, Samsung designed the Samsung Digimax A7 to support five different power sources, including AA Alkaline, CR-V3, Ni-MH, a dedicated Samsung Li-ion (SBP- 1303) and an AC adapter. Li-ion and Ni-MH batteries provide enough power for roughly 308 shots, while AA Alkaline enables users to capture up to 110 images.

The CR-V3 it mentions is the kind I use. There is a rechargeable one from Maplin. Seems dear at 19 but it is worth it.

If you still want to have an 'ordinary' CR-V3 then don't pay the 9.99 (or more) that you'll find on the High Street - look at 7dayshop for a twin pack much cheaper.

I also keep some AA rechargeables as well (belt and braces). If you want to know more about batteries, look here:-

Thank you everyone. You have given me some great information and advice. I shall now order a 1GB memory card in confidence, and buy a rechargable battery pack. Cheers!
