I applied as a station assistant a few years back (didn't get it). I THINK that is the route you take first, but don't hold me to it - it just seems that way.

Me again - forgot to add that I actually got details of the job from a Jobcentre website, and there is (or was) a jobcentre in London (can't remember exactly but it's somewhere around Edgware road/paddington area) which tends to deal with LU positions. I still suspect that I am right tho in that you have to be in it in someother capacity first. I also know that you can't just walk into it in the sense that you have to undergo various medical checks and have some basic knowledge of LU rules and procedures, which you get from this other capacity whatever it is.
