Usually, in commercial premises, wiring for fire alarm systems is done with orange covered 'cable'. This is called MICC - Metal (or Mica) Insulated Copper Cable or Conductor (I think). The conductors are insulated by a mica powder which is then sheathed in copper then the orange coating. This provides a higher tolerance than normal cable to fire and chemical attack. Any help? Andy
Cable is outside someones house and is the main electrical cable it has a orange cover about 4 meters of the cable and then there is normall cable.. I only ask because it is in a very nice village fantastic views, untill some opens there curtains and all they see is bright orange cable. just looks odd thats all !!!

If the Electricity supplier has been notified that work is to be undertaken near their cables, they will attach the sleeves as a safety measure, and to remind workers of the danger, ie proximity & site plant such as diggers. On larger sites, a frame will also be erected with "Height Limit" ribbons for equipment to be passed under.
