Anyone actually experienced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and did it do any good.
Are you supposed to think of a stressful situation and the worse thing that could happen and how you would deal with it ?
I have looked it up through Google but do not understand it.

Hi tellboy, I've actually got an assessment for CBT on Tuesday. After my assessment I'm then put on the waiting list. There's a good book to read called coping with depression - a self help guide using CBT by Paul Gilbert. Try it, you might find it useful x

Thanks mismuppet. It was something i was asked to consider but then said it may not work on my diagnosed Bi-Polar Disorder. With this they fill you up with lithium which takes away all decision making ability and then ask you to decide on your treatment Good Eh ?
I have experienced it, and have to say, for me at least, it was worse than useless, it all seemed very 'American' and mostly stating the bleeding obvious, it just wound me up made me feel worse. I dare say it might work for some........just cant imagine who!
I agree with Impret-Sir.The only thing I got out it was predicting the next question and giving the anticipated answer.
ditto for me too, i didnt find it useful at all and a complete waste of time and money but it may work differently for different people.

Lithium. Yes I suppose so in a pickle perhaps not decision making ability then what is it I mean ? , the feeling of swimming in a treacle of ordinariness where you just couldn't care less what treatment you are on you are just so average and boring.
Now had 3 years of this and I really, really, really liked the bi-polar highs and if left alone could get through the lows and had an odd and fairly dangerous way of quickly triggering back to highs.
The highs just got on everbodys nerves except me as you probably know
Thanks everyone for your opinions
I know exactly what you mean tellboy ! Same with Tegretol and Mirtazapine hate it but dare not stop it.
