recording over tapes?

hi, wondered if anyone could help me, i have a camcorder that uses mini dv cassette tapes, can i re-record over the existing tape when i've made my cd from the video? instead of buying new tapes every time? would be grateful for any help or answers as i'm still just learning to do all this stuff! many thanks.

Yes you can record over them I do it all the time, no probs
