Vacuum cleaner power

I am currently trying to buy a new vaccum cleaner to replace my current one which is just about dead! Trouble is, looking at the weight of the ones on the market, they are too heavy for me to carry or push. It needs to be an upright as I cannot bend down far enough to use a cylinder one. I tried a dyson one which was reasonably heavy, but when I turned it on it became VERY heavy. I presume this is because of the suction power? Does this mean that I should in fact be looking for a low power wattage and low air suction power? I was trying to find the lightest one, but with high power, so maybe I am going the wrong way??

Any ideas?

Hi,

The Oreck range of vacuum cleaners are the lightest on the market.

Unfortunately they are very expensive at 270 - 350.
