Internet links not working

I had a problem with my internet last week and my ISP talked me through a few things on the phone, part of which involved me defaulting all my internet security settings.

Since then certain things haven't been working properly - I ca no longer click on links, and even open in new window doesn't work. It makes no difference if my pop-up blocker is switched on or off.

Does anyone have any idea what controls I need to change back to custom or what the problem could be?

I should have said shortcuts rather than links. Please can anyone help?
