Hallmarks??? Can anybody date my ring???
6 Answers
I have inherited a diamond and platinum ring - I am told it is quite valuable.
It is a trio diamond ring with the centre one being the largest (approx) 1 carat.
The markings are C - R, a pentagon with a dot in the middle and a capital 'L' in slight italics.
Please help - I have trawled the internet and the informtion seems to be unclear to say the least.
Many thanks in advance

But that doesn't mean that it was made there. I can't find that maker's mark in any references for Birmingham. Are you sure about the hyphen between the initials? The pentagon may be the symbol for platinum, though the 'dot' in the centre doesn't ring a bell - there would normally be a number there representing the 'fineness', or purity, of the metal.
The italic capital 'L' dates it to 1960. (Stevie21's 1985 letter 'L' is a 'copperplate' capital letter, not an italic one).
