hole punchers

i have a new hole punch, and its got a lock on it that locks it in the closed position. does anyone know why there is such a lock, as even if there wasnt i canrt imaigine a child getting fingers stuck etc

its a safety feature and it also allows it to be stored in a draw or in its boxed more easlity as it takes up less space when its in the closed position

I thought it was so i can be stored easier. My hole punch is very high once released and doesnt fit into my drawer unless locked closed

As above, it's shipped closed, takes a smaller box

I took a new punch out of the box last week and had to move the lock which was pretty hard to do. There was no way of refitting and I can only assume it was for packing purposes though you would have thought that it could have been held down and boxed without the lock!
