Radio unblocking

we have a vauxhall corsa and the grundig car 200 radio is blocked, it shows 'safe' on the display. the instruction book says 'safe' appears for 3 seconds and then we can enter the radio code but it's doesn't. how can this be unblocking without going to a vauxhall garage?

yes have already tried 3 times and yes ignition was on

more than 3 attempts an it locks out for 30mins best thing to do is get it recoded most car audio stores can do this i had an astra one done it was �15

if you leave the ignition and radio on for 30mins you will get a 4th try.
