How do you put your clocks back ?

That time is approaching, and the clocks go back by an hour. Do you do all yours before you go to bed or when you wake in the morning ?

Also, an interesting thought. AB runs on Windows 2000. As far as I know, Windows 'puts the clock back' by setting the CMOS time back to 1am at 2am on the night in question. Does this mean that if you ask a question on here at say 0145 and answer it a half-hour later (when it will then be 0115) you can have questions answered before they are asked ? Anyone going to wait up and try it ?

I will be putting my clock back before I go to bed. I have asked similar questions myself, not on here though, I may stay up to find out!! or is that a bit sad lol ?

I'm not sure why but I get really confused about this time going back and forth, do I gain an hour, lose an hour, I don't know, my brain hurts!!

You gain an hour in winter and lose an hour in summer.... I think (she says scratching her head). Unless it's after midnight? Bu88er, confused myself now!

I know I like to do it at bedtime in answer to Whiffey, otherwise I'd forget to do it in the morning. And no, won't be waiting up... well, not intentially anyway ;0)

Here's another one. A patient is admitted to A/E at 0145 and blood tests are run. The results are back 30 minutes later - apparently before the patient was even bled. Results are normal and the patient is discharged - half an hour before he was admitted.

Don't worry, it doesn't happen like that, but it's fascinating

My clock adjusts it self...at 2 am the hands automatically change to 1 am..its real scary if you are not expecting it. My sister was staying with us last year and it freaked her out ! lol

Officially the clocks go back an hour this year on Sunday 29th october at 1am GMT which will be 2am BST. Therefore the safest way Of logging times around the changeover period would be to indicate in which time mode the time was logged ie the time folled by either (BST) or (GMT).

I am fed up with trying to remember Spring Forward - Leap Back. Why don't they leave clocks alone and let the Scots put up with it.

Kwicky, its not just the Scotts, it would have the same affect across the world, as all time zones would go haywire if we changed ours, we would never know what time it in any other country as it would change twice a year.

They did keep to the same time all year round for a while back In 1968 to 1971. Britain tried the experiment of keeping BST throughout the year, largely for commercial reasons because Britain would then conform to the time kept by other European Countries. This was not good for the school children of Scotland as it meant they had to always go to school in the dark. The experiment was eventually abandoned in 1972.
Our clocks set themselves but a few years ago I turned up an hour early for work ! Even this year when they went forward I forgot to change my watch and found myself dithering in the High Street on the Sunday morning thinking the newsagents would not be open !

oh and i usually change mine at about midnight and chuckle to myself about the extra short/long programs on tv like a child. always have always will.

Why would it affect the rest or the world?. During ww2 I think the clocks were moved by 2 hours and the Germans didn`t complain then
