Stripey toothpaste

How do they get those stripes to come out of the tube?? A friend of a friend cut a tube in half once and still could not work it out.

stuff like signal has a reservoir at the top as the paste goes past it picks up a trace of it, I can only gues the multi stripeones work in a similar way

i was an engineer at smithkline where they make the toothpaste,the paste is fed thru a 3 way tube,each tube having its own colour...simple!
