A film you borrow or hire? it is illegal to make a copy of a hired film and these days there is copyright hidden somewhere in the film so you really cannot copy it. it would help if you were more specific - like have you got a VHS that you want to burn onto a dvd? have you a camcorder that you want to copy the film onto a dvd? or are you trying to "pirate" something onto a dvd? Assuming that you are like me and forever honest (heh) I would advise you to google search dvd shrink and dvd43 which will probably solve your problems, and both programs are free to download. The best format? Are you talking ratio here? TMPGEnc will solve the ratio/size problem (if you want to view a copy film on a computer/ TV or widescreen) the format to burn or view as in either PAL or NTSC? A lot more information from you would really be helpful!
