Forrest Gump

Lieutenat Dan, played by Gary Sinise, has no legs in part of the film Forrest Gump. Does anyone have any idea how they filmed that? xx

From a distant memory of a "making of" they just covered his legs in blue optical material (similar to what they use for blue screen work, I guess) and used CG to "paint" his legs out.
