Hi my husband has just borrowed my car and filled it up with diesel, which ordinarily would be great, however it is a petrol car, he is waiting for the AA now, has anyone any experience with this, it is a six month old VW Fox 1.2 and was perfect! I am worried that after they have drained the tank there may be repercussions from the diesel that went through the engine, i have read some blogs elsewhere which indicate that this is not as bad as petrol in diesel however i am really worried, glad it wasn't me though, but i had asked to borrow is after damaging my leg snowboarding i needed his automatic (diesel) so hence the intricate web of disaster that so often befalls us!!!!!! Change the husband
Doh!

I wouldn't worry about it - It's happened to a couple of people I know and all's been well in the end - as long as it's dealt with correctly - you and your car will be fine. We still take the pi$$ out of my mother who did it 15 years ago in the middle of France with no AA and very little French being spoken. I'm suprised the nozzle fitted in the hole - petrol are thinner and the hole is thinner than a diesel nozzle - You have to really try hard to get that diesel in a petrol car nowadays.

Good Luck
its nothing to worry about it, there shouldnt be any problems with the car at all. i'v drained a few tanks and the car will run fine as soon as the correct fuel has gone through the system.

I once filled up with petrol at a supermarket, the only problem was that the tanker delivery man had filled the petrol tanks with diesel, with it mixing with the petrol already in my tank, I did not immediately notice any difference. But then I did and chugged it back to the supermarket filling station, where there was a whole lot of motorist with the same problem. The supermarket pais for a meal for us all while they organised the vehicles to be taken to the local garages, and arranged taxis to take us home. Must have cost them a bomb. Son't know what the garage did to my car but I did not have any trouble with it, due to this event.
