I own a palm vx and want to upgrade my useless motorola v66i for possibly the Sony Ericsson T610 which i think is compatable for connecting to the net via infa-red altho the palm handbook doesn't indicate you can connect via its infa red...any thoughts? cheers

Not sure about the Palm, But I've recently upgraded my mobile to the Sony T610 and it talks quite happily to my Psion PDA through infra-red. It also connects to the web independently.....

yeah thanks ipek. I am getting more positive remarks about the bundle that comes with the T610. how do find the mobile? any grumbles. It cannot be worse than my Motorola v66i - 5th since xmas!
The T610 is a great little phone.

Good points - It handles well and doesn't feel plastic-y (mainly because it's aluminium). It's light and the buttons are big enough to use easily. Infra-red works well (talks to my laptop, too) and so does internet access. Navigation is dead easy because of it's 'Windows' appearance. The camera is handy for the odd snap.

Drawbacks - The voice commands aren't recognised as well as my old Siemens S35 and I couldn't get a pucker Sony Bluetooth headset to work in the car. The joystick can be a bit fiddly if you don't have fingernails and if you get a cover, it lands up with 'belly-button fluff' around it! The ringtones that come with it are pretty naff, so I've had to download something better.

But I'm pleased with it overall - after all it IS primarily a phone and that bit it does real well!
