Is there another name for a large hammer for driving bolts besides that of an insect, please? I think the answer could be a mammal.

Does anybody know who refined the traffic cones in 1961, please?

And lastly, the connection between the 3 detectives - Holmes, poirot & Maigret.

No, Poirot smoked a small type of cigar.
I am still searching for confirmation of a monkey hammer, but it sounds likely.

Thank you sarumite. yes, i am guessing re Joe Royle, hence me thinking it might be a mistake.

I had realised that edwards fitted, but had got no further than that, so Duncan Edwards is a real possibility. many thanks for that.

Sorry but Hercule Poirot didn't smoke a pipe - I work with someone who is an Agatha Christie afficianado and someone who has played Hercule Poirot on stage and thus researched the character fully

He smoked small cigarillo style cigarettes/cigars NOT a pipe

Even the website I referred you to thought he was a pipe smoker...oh well. Would be interested yo know the answer when it is revealed...good luck anyway.
