No, it is not. And neither is black. White is created by a spectrum of colours, so by definition cannot be one of them. Black is a nothingness - it is a total lack of colour and it is therefore impossible to create 100% black in this imperfect world, as some colour will always get in. But isn't that what makes the world so great?
Colour is light reflected into the eye. Black light is not possible but black suits or black ties are often worn at funerals. Charcoal is black. Metal can burn white hot. White light on the television is a combination of the three primary colours. How else could black or white be described to someone not knowing black & white are colours: only artists would say otherwise. Those were the days of black & white photographs!
