Inches are the same.

and there isn't as big a difference in the gallon as you suggest - typo maybe? - usa = 3.78 UK = 4.54, deriving from a USA pint being 16 fl oz and a UK one 20 fl oz.

ah yes I got the english one wrong but that is a big difference 4.5-3.78 =0.72 that is two thirds of a litre and represents 15 % of 4.5 litress (actually I think it may be 4.54 if we want to split hairs) that is quite a difference I am sure you would check if you were putting 10 american or english gallons in your car that would be quite a difference
The US Survey Mile as used by the US Public Land Survey System differs from the International Mile (Imperial Mile, as used in the UK) by being 3.0mm longer. If you were planning a long bridge or tunnel, this might create a problem, but you won't notice a difference in the size of an inch between US and UK tape measures!

yes it would I was brought up on metric
5 UK gallons = 6 US gallons within a small fraction of a percent.
Multiply UK gallons by 1.2 to convert to US gallons.
Divide US gallons by 1.2 to convert to UK gallons.
For greater precision use 1.201 or 1.20095045385.

One inch by international agreement in the US and UK equals 2.54 cm exactly.
The "US survey inch" which is rarely used is very slightly shorter being defined by 39.37 inches equal to one metre.
The US using metric quite a bit? Noooooooooooooooooooooo. I love it that they still use English, not foreign measurements etc. I was brought up on imperial and still can't work that foreign muckl.

its much simpler you know
10mm = 1 cm
10cm = 1 dm
10dm= 1m

100 cm = 1m
1000 mm = 1 m

not that difficult you know

1 in = 2.54 cm
1 foot = 30.48 cm
1 m = 3.29 feet (rough calculation in my head)

what so complicated ?
Some trades in the US use rules marked with oversized 'decimal inches' at 10 to the foot, (embarrassingly, I've twice been caught out by not realising I'd been using one!).
By the way, all automobile spark plugs, worldwide, use metric threads.
just to clarify this bull>>>>>>>>>>
10dm = 1m &&& >? 100cm = 1m just prooves metric is CRAP. INCHES FEET & YARDS better than that alien RUBBISH.
Our country OUR rules. Stuff the do gooders.

well I didn't choose to be brought up on metric (begin sarcasm) I think I will now sue the government for not telling me about this wonderfully complicated system what was it now something like 14 oz = 1 pound and don't ask me how many lbs make what because I know it is not 14 to make whatever, yes I definitely need to sue the government for my ignorance (/end sarcasm) to think I grew up in Italy hating the stupidness of the Italian people (I'm english) only to find my fellow so called open minded brits can be somewhat jerks if they want to be
Do NASA operate in imperial or metric and is the International Space Station being built to imperial or metric?? I would imagine it's all being done in metric!
