The title says it all really. How would you prove you were out of the country. Do airlines keep records of people on their flights? Passports are rarely stamped these days, so that not an option. Not sure that visas are applicable either. Ideas?

tickets, receipts, photos
digital photos are usually date stamped
if you withdrew cash from a bank abroad then it may be proof

Depends where you went as in some countries they scan your passport so they will have a record.
Suppose it depends on who you want to prove it to and if you know about it (having to prove it) before your return.

I'm sure the police has other expectations of a proof than a suspicient partner for example.

I would imagine that most people turn off the date on their digital photos, if not, it is quite easy to reset the date on that, so no proof!
A postcard sent could have been arranged previously.
All photographs (with newspapers or such) could be fake.

boarding pass, till receipts, - if its for the police ot some authority i am sure the airline would confirm it - i doubt records are wiped for a while
