I pay my Credit card bill via transfer on the internet (I'm with Lloyds) although the funds leave my account the next day, the money doesn't register with Capital One until 4-5 days later. My dad has transferred some money into my account (lucky me) that was Tuesday and it's still not clear....when will I be able to get my hands on it. BTW I can't see it in the system, but then that's the same as BACS payments, they do not show until the funds are available to the account holder.....acutally does anyone know where I can get comprehensive information about clearing times and payment options, as Lloyds staff don't have a clue!!!!

I think "comprehensive information" could only come from your bank, possibly on its website where you do your online banking - and it's surprising that Lloyds staff shouldn't be able to help you. But generally online payments are credited to the payee a/c two days after the payment - ie online payment Monday, credited Wednesday. BUT remember, banking days finish early, at about 3/30pm, and any payment after that will count as on the next day; AND weekends and bank holidays don't count - so a payment made at 6/0pm on the Wednesday before Good Friday/Easter Monday won't be credited until the following Wednesday.
I use Barclays internet banking, and there is a section on the help/faq page specifically detailing the delays (eg: transferring to other Barclays accounts/Barclaycard = close of business). I would expect Lloyds to have the same somewhere on the site, as a lot of people ask the question!

Yep! Thanks guys found the relevant section, says if I transfer funds it's instant (providing it's before 3:30) but the transfer is coming from Bank of Scotland which apparently takes 3 working days :-( no fun for me tonight!

Thanks guys your'e all stars! it's Friday am and still not gone through, Lloyds said that a transfer from Bank of Scotland should be in on Friday if completed the previous Tuesday, so fingers crossed some time today!.....I'll get the drinks ;-)
