Group emails
12 Answers
I'm the membership secretary of a club of around 125 members and have built up a group of email addresses for all of those on line. This is made possible because all the applications naturally come to me first. However, I would like to send this 'group' address list to the chairman and secretary for them to do their own emails to the group, but cannot find a way of extracting them as a group from my address book of around 500 addresses. Is there an easy way to do this?

From OUtlook Express opening page, select Addresses
Click on "File" - "Export" - "Address Book"
Save wherever you want to keep it. It can be loaded (using Import) onto another user of Outlook Express.
Always handy to keep ion back up in case of PC crash, then you don't lose all those addresses you've built up for years:-)

Dipee65's method will export your whole Address Book, not just the relevant group.
The only way I know to do what you want is to create a copy of your address book, edit it so that only the single group is left and then e-mail the result to the Chairman and Secretary.
To do this, follow Dipee65's instructions and export your address book file to the desktop, giving it a name such as 'Members'.
Double-click on the file Members.wab, which will appear on your desktop. Edit this copy of your your address book (by deleting unnecessary contacts), so that only the group containing club members remains. (Remember, you're only editing a copy of your address book. The original one, in Outlook Express, will remain unaffected by any changes you make).
Then e-mail Club.wab to the Chairman and Secretary, asking that they use the 'Import Address Book' menu item within Outlook Express.

In gmail you can create as many groups of email contacts as you like from your address book.
Then each group can be 'exported' showing all the relevant email addresses in a .csv file which can be sent to wherever you like as an attachment.
I think such a facility would be excellent for somebody in your position.
It also replaces Outlook, as it has a mail fetcher facility for up to 5 email addresses.
